Increased efficiency and range, sharpened design: The new Audi Q8 e-tron
In 2018, Audi set in motion the electric age of mobility with the launch of the 2023 Audi e-tron. Since then, this model has been leading the luxury class of electric SUVs. The new 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron is the next chapter of this success story. As the top model in the electric SUV and crossover range, it has an optimized drive system, better aerodynamics, faster charging and a bigger battery - with a range of up to 582 km in the SUV and up to 600 km in the Sportback (as per the WLTP). In addition, there are visible changes to the front of the car, giving it a fresh and updated look.
About four years ago, Audi began its journey into the electric world with the release of the Audi e-tron. The company has been consistent in fulfilling its commitment to sustainability, now offering an extensive electric range of eight models. By 2026, this number is expected to increase to 20, after which Audi will only launch battery-powered vehicles.
Audi provides the Q8 e-tron in two different designs - a classic SUV and an athletic-looking Sportback. It measures 4,915 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,619 mm (Sportback) or 1,633 mm (SUV) in height, guaranteeing plenty of space and comfort. The SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron are both shorter by 2 mm and wider by 39 mm.
The wheelbase of 2,928 mm provides rear passengers with sufficient legroom. The luggage compartment is quite large at 569 liters (528 l in the Sportback), and there are additional 62 liters in the "frunk" in the front.
The Q8 model by Audi establishes it as the leading model for electric SUVs and crossovers. An immediate indication of the model's electric nature is evident in the redesigned front and rear, which is in keeping with Audi's language for electric vehicles. As an electric Audi SUV, the Q8 e-tron sports a two-dimensional, minimalistic design of the four rings, along with the model name in Audi lettering on the B-pillar. To make the family logo stand out, Audi has opted to utilize the Singleframe light spoiler to emphasize the four rings as the central element, and showcase the vehicle's face, if desired.
Audi offers two body styles with three versions of electric all-wheel drive - the base models of the Audi Q8 50 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron having 250 kW of output and 489 lb-ft of torque with an estimated range of 305 miles (SUV) and 313 miles (Sportback). The Audi Q8 55 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron provide 300 kW of boost power, 489 lb-ft of torque and a range of 362 miles (SUV) and 372 miles (Sportback), with a top speed of 124 mph. Lastly, the Audi SQ8 e-tron features 370 kW of boost power, 718 lb-ft of torque, a range of 307 miles (SUV) and 319 miles (Sportback), and a maximum speed of 130 mph.
Two battery sizes are available for the Q8 50 e-tron (89 kWh net/95 kWh gross) and the more powerful versions (Q8 55 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron; 106 kWh net/114 kWh gross). Stacking technology increases energy density by 20%. Updating the battery management system further increases battery capacity.
