Xiaomi electric car, SU7, a electric full-size sedan, has been officially unveiled as Xiaomi's first venture into the electric vehicle market. Production began in December 2023, with this car heralded as the best electric vehicle for winter conditions. The sedan is available in two variants: the standard SU7 and the high-performance SU7 Max. Xiaomi's involvement in electric car production was announced in March 2021, with the company investing $1,406,707,000. Developed under the codename MS11 in collaboration with BAIC, the design was led by Li Tianyuan, a former BMW designer. Technologically, Xiaomi electric car, the SU7, is impressive. The standard rear-wheel-drive model features a 220 kW electric motor, equivalent to 295 hp, while the all-wheel-drive SU7 Max offers a substantial 495 kW or 664 hp. These models are built on an 800-volt electrical architecture, with the base model capable of reaching top speeds of 130 mph and the Max version up to 165 mph. The SU7 Max boasts a rapid acceleration, reaching 0-60 mph in just 2.78 seconds, outperforming the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan. It also offers a range of up to 497 miles. The vehicle includes innovative features such as air suspension, an active shutter grille, an adaptive rear wing, and a world-leading low drag coefficient of 0.195. It also features a state-of-the-art infotainment system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, running on HyperOS, and the Xiaomi Pilot advanced driver-assistance system.
Xiaomi's Modena EV architecture supports a variety of battery sizes, including a 73.6 kWh battery from BYD and a 101 kWh battery from CATL for the SU7 Max. Sales of Xiaomi electric car, the SU7, are expected to start in early 2024 in China, although prices are yet to be announced. According to statistics, the vehicle is anticipated to be priced between $27,000 to $43,000 approximately. This launch not only diversifies Xiaomi's product portfolio but also marks its significant entry into the global electric vehicle market, offering a technologically advanced vehicle designed to meet the needs of a modern, eco-conscious customer base.
