The Polestar 4, an electric SUV coupe, was presented to the public for the first time in North America at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. The vehicle is available in two configurations: the Long Range Single Motor version has a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $54,900 in the United States, whereas the Long Range Dual Motor version, which includes the standard Pilot Pack, has a starting MSRP of $62,900. Orders for the Polestar 4 will commence in late April 2024, with delivery to customers scheduled for the fourth quarter of the same year.
The debut of the Polestar 4 at the New York International Auto Show marks its introduction to the North American market. The vehicle is positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and price, offering an amalgamation of SUV space and coupe aerodynamics. This addition is part of the brand's expansion from offering a single model to introducing three distinct vehicles within the year.
The Polestar 4 price for the Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor variants reflects the inclusion of various features. Standard equipment across models includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, adaptive cruise control, and a comprehensive suite of driving aids. The Long Range Dual Motor variant further benefits from the Pilot Pack as standard equipment, enhancing its driving assistance capabilities.
The vehicle incorporates advanced design elements to enhance aerodynamic efficiency, such as a low nose profile, retractable door handles, and optimized airflow features. It is the fastest production model developed by the brand to date, capable of accelerating 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds with a maximum output of 544 hp. Both Long Range variants are equipped with a 102 kWh battery, supporting fast charging capabilities. Polestar 4's infotainment system is powered by the Android Automotive OS, with a 15.4-inch screen and integration with Google services, ensuring a connected driving experience. Regular updates are delivered over the air, allowing for continuous improvement of vehicle features.
Furthermore, Polestar has announced plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities into South Korea, through a collaboration with Geely Holding and Renault Korea Motors, aiming to start production of the Polestar 4 in Busan for both North American and South Korean markets by 2025.
Initially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, the Polestar 4 began sales in Europe and Australia in January 2024. This vehicle joins the Polestar electric lineup as the brand evolves to offer multiple models in 2024.
The strategic positioning of the Polestar 4 between existing models in terms of size and price, along with its debut at a prestigious auto show, reflects an assertive market penetration strategy aimed at capturing interest from a broad spectrum of consumers. This move, coupled with the brand's expansion into additional manufacturing capabilities in South Korea, signals a robust approach to scaling production and potentially reducing logistical challenges. However, the ultimate success of the Polestar 4 will hinge on its ability to deliver on performance expectations and integrate seamlessly with the evolving EV infrastructure, amidst increasing competition and ever-evolving consumer preferences within the electric mobility space.
Earlier this year the 2025 Polestar 3 price experienced a significant reduction, with the MSRP starting at $73,400.
