ENERGY ON THE RISE! FORD Responds to Customer Demand with More Eco-Friendly Vehicles
Ford is increasing production in their manufacturing plants across North America to meet the high demand for popular vehicles such as Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Bronco Sport, and Maverick. Additionally, in 2023, the company is planning to launch completely new versions of four major vehicles - Super Duty, Ranger, Mustang, and Escape.
Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford Blue, has shared that the company is committed to boosting production to benefit their customers and business. Ford has had a successful start to 2023 sales and is currently the number one overall selling brand in America, leading in both truck manufacturing and SUV sales. They have witnessed a 68% increase in electric vehicle sales as of February.
Ford's market share in the U.S. rose to 13.3% in February, with a 21.9% increase in sales. To meet demand for the Mustang Mach-E, Ford has increased hourly production and aims to manufacture 210,000 units by year-end. The Mustang Mach-E has made Ford the second-largest EV seller in the U.S. and attracted over two-thirds of buyers from other brands. Ford is also increasing production for Bronco Sport and Maverick by over 80,000 units this year to meet demand in North and South America. The Bronco family led 4.6% growth in Ford's brand SUV sales in 2022, and the Maverick became the top-selling small truck in the U.S. in 2022.
The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan plans to triple the production of F-150 Lightning trucks, aiming for an annual production rate of 150,000 by 2023. The F-150 Lightning is currently the most popular electric truck in the US, and Ford is investing $2 billion to increase production and create 3,200 union jobs. The Transit and E-Transit vans will also see a production increase, with an additional crew being added in April at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. Ford is aiming to raise annual production by 38,000, invest $95 million, and create 1,100 union jobs.
