Ford’s F-150 Lightning Orders Now Open! No Reservation Required!
Ford's electric truck, the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, will be available for purchase again on May 9th. Interested buyers won't need to make a reservation this time around.
The F-150 Lightning has quickly gained popularity since its launch in May 2021, generating more than 200,000 reservations by the end of the year. Ford claims that the Lightning is its most intelligent and innovative truck yet, despite having over a century of experience. What's noteworthy is that over 50% of Lightning buyers are switching from a non-truck brand, as per recent data. CEO Jim Farley has revealed that almost all of the electric full-size pickup truck customers were new to Ford. As buyers look for practical, emission-free alternatives, Ford has introduced an AI-based feature called Ford Pro Trailer Hitch Assist that can automatically align the Lightning's hitch ball with a trailer.
The Ford F-150 Lightning XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trims are available for purchase, but the Pro trim is already sold out for the year. The starting price for the Lariat Standard Range pickup has increased to $75,974, while the Platinum trim's starting price has gone up to $98,074. However, there's good news for those interested in purchasing the electric pickup; the entire $7,500 EV tax credit is applicable if the model's starting price is below $80,000, which applies to the Lariat and XLT Lightning models.
Ford faced a setback in production earlier this year, but they remain committed to increasing their electric truck production to 150,000 by the end of the year. They have resumed full production and are now accepting orders for the next wave of 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning reservation holders. Additionally, non-reservation holders will also have the opportunity to order a Lightning model.
