Kia’s November Sales Highlight EV Market Growth
Kia America's November sales figures have set a remarkable new benchmark, as the company surpassed its all-time annual sales record in just under eleven months. This achievement is highlighted by the impressive year-over-year growth Kia has maintained for 16 consecutive months. In November 2023 alone, Kia sold 58,338 units, a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in sales pushed the company's total annual U.S. sales to 722,176 vehicles, with still a month left in the year.
A significant contributor to this success has been Kia's lineup of electric vehicles, which posted a staggering 120% year-over-year increase. The EV6 model, in particular, saw a 101% surge in sales compared to November of the previous year. Kia’s EV9 model, although newly introduced, is already showing promising signs, with reservations from customers across all 50 U.S. states.
Kia's overall retail sales in November also showed an upward trend, with 54,547 units sold through its dealerships, marking a 12% increase in year-to-date retail sales compared to the first 11 months of 2022. The company's SUVs continue to be a strong segment, accounting for 71% of November sales. Additionally, sales of Kia’s electrified models increased by 45% over the same period last year.
Among the various models, seven recorded increased sales compared to November of the previous year, including the Carnival, EV6, K5, Sportage, Seltos, Telluride, and Forte. This diverse range of models contributing to the sales growth underlines Kia's strength across different vehicle categories.
Kia America is not just focused on sales growth but is also actively engaged in several initiatives. The all-electric Kia EV9 has been named a finalist for the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Yea. Furthermore, Kia has launched its “Season of Giving Back” year-end sales event for the second consecutive year in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where donations will be made for every new Kia model sold or leased.
Kia America's record-breaking sales in November, driven significantly by its electric and electrified models, demonstrate the brand's growing appeal and the increasing consumer interest in environmentally friendly vehicles. With new models like the EV9 on the horizon and ongoing community engagement initiatives, Kia is poised to continue its growth trajectory well into the new year.
