The Ford F-150 Lightning Just Got MORE EXPENSIVE

Ford has decided to reopen order banks for the next group of customers who have reserved the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup. However, it has been noted that the prices for the Lariat Standard Range and Platinum versions have been increased by $1,500 and $1,200, respectively.

The car manufacturer has decided to raise the price of its Lariat Standard Range pickup truck from $74,474 to $75,974, and the Platinum trim's price will also increase from $96,874 to $98,074.

This increase has been attributed to current material costs, market factors, and supply chain constraints. The Lariat Extended Range version and two XLT versions (SR and ER) will maintain their current prices. Unfortunately, the entry-level Pro version has faced a $4,000 increase in price and is only available for fleets since the 2023 model year's batch that was intended for retail customers has already been sold out.

It has been revealed that the rise in prices will impact commercial orders along with retail orders. The cost of the F-150 Lightning Pro for the 2023 model year is going up from $55,974 to $59,974, and it is still sold out for retail customers.

Production and deliveries of the Ford Lightning were stopped in February due to a fire incident that occurred in one of the newly built trucks waiting for quality checks. Further investigation led Ford to discover a possible battery cell defect, leading to the recall of 18 Lightnings that could have been affected by the same problem. However, there were no other reported incidents of fire or accidents related to the defect.

Ford plans to increase its annual output rate of electric vehicles to 150,000 by fall at its Rouge facility.
