Rivian Takes on Rebelle Rally with R1T and R1S!
With an all-female team of its employees, the automaker Rivian has released a short video documentary that highlights its preparation, participation, and performance in the 2022 Rebelle Rally.
The video called "Zero to Rally" chronicles the journey of Lillian Macaruso, Alex Anderson, Rosanna Nuch, and Nicole Johnson, who took part in the event as rookies last year, with a standard Rivian R1T pickup and a standard Rivian R1S SUV.
The Rebelle Rally is a unique event in the United States that focuses on off-road navigation and is exclusively for women. Unlike traditional speed events, it is a challenge to find waypoints using only a compass, paper maps, and a road book. The event runs for eight days and covers approximately 1,600 miles. Although it is a challenging event, it is not as tough as the Dakar Rally, and stock vehicles are welcome to participate. The use of internet-connected devices for navigation is strictly prohibited.
Last year, Rivian's R1T and its team attained the 4th rank in the contest and were honored with the Rookie of the Year prize. Additionally, the R1S, which took part in the competition, managed to secure the 20th spot out of 45 participants, indicating a commendable performance for a first-time effort.
Rivian has now decided to offer every female employee in the US the opportunity to compete in the factory vehicle for this year's Rebelle Rally. The training for the event will commence in mid-April. It is not the first time that Rivian has taken part in the demanding Rebelle Rally, as Emme Hall and Rebecca Donaghe entered the competition with an R1T.
