VW ChatGPT Chatbot: Revolutionizing In-Car AI at CES 2024

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, Volkswagen made waves with the announcement of integrating the ChatGPT chatbot into its vehicle lineup, a collaboration with Cerence that marks a significant advance in automotive AI. Showcased in Las Vegas, this integration represents a major leap in AI vehicle technology. Starting in the second quarter of 2024, the VW ChatGPT will become a standard feature in many Volkswagen vehicles, a first for a volume manufacturer.

The VW ChatGPT chatbot will be available in various models, including ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3. Enhanced by Cerence Chat Pro, the VW ChatGPT chatbot bolsters the Volkswagen voice assistant's capabilities, allowing advanced interactions like controlling infotainment, navigation, and air conditioning, and answering general knowledge questions. This integration is designed to enrich the driving experience with intuitive, hands-free communication.

Transitioning to this new technology is effortless for drivers. No additional accounts, apps, or activations are required. The voice assistant is activated with a simple "Hello IDA" or a steering wheel button press. The system efficiently manages vehicle functions and AI inquiries, delivering responses in the familiar Volkswagen voice.

Volkswagen ensures that the VW ChatGPT chatbot does not access vehicle data, maintaining stringent data protection. All queries are processed and then deleted immediately, with Cerence Chat Pro managing data flow and sourcing from the VW ChatGPT chatbot and other resources.
