Volvo’s 2024 C40 & XC40 Recharge: More Range, RWD, & Power!
Volvo recently shared the news about its C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models that will now have rear-wheel drive. Further to this, Volvo has made another important announcement regarding updates and modifications that will be made to their electric SUVs sold in the US.
Volvo to introduce entry-level RWD models for 2024 Volvo C40 and 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge EVs. To make this possible, Volvo has developed a new, more efficient 248 horsepower electric motor. The C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge have impressive ranges of 297 and 293 miles, respectively, according to the EPA. Furthermore, the battery pack has been updated to be more energy-dense, which has led to an increase in its capacity to 82 kWh. These enhancements have resulted in a significant increase in range for both models.
Volvo has announced that it will be making updates to the dual-motor AWD versions of its C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models. The revised version will include a rear axle motor with a more powerful 248 horsepower and a front axle motor with a lower power of 147 horsepower. The front motor will only kick in when necessary, which will make the updated AWD model more efficient.
The maximum charge speed has been increased from 150 kW to 200 kW. As a result, the 10-80% charge time has been significantly reduced from 40 minutes to just 28 minutes, making it ideal for road trips with multiple stops. Although the 78 kWh battery pack remains unchanged, the new electric motor configuration will extend the range of the C40 Recharge by 31 miles to 257 miles and the XC40 Recharge's range by 21 miles to 254 miles.
The 78 kWh battery pack in both models will remain unchanged, which means the charge speed of 150 kW will not improve. However, the new electric motor configuration will extend the C40 Recharge's range by 31 miles to 257 miles and the XC40 Recharge's range by 21 miles to 254 miles.
The models have undergone some changes lately, including the addition of a new 19-inch wheel option, more color choices, and additional exterior themes.
