Race To The Clouds: 2022 Rivian R1T And 2023 BMW XM Face Off At Pikes Peak!
For those who may not be aware, the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb is a 12.42-mile race with 156 turns and an incline of 4,725 feet, held on public roads in Europe. Even though this may not seem like a large rise, the starting point is already at a high altitude, with the summit of Pikes Peak reaching 14,115 feet due to its location in Colorado.
This year, a Rivian R1T pickup and a BMW XM Red Label will join a total of 74 vehicles in the Exhibition Class in an event up the mountain. These two EVs are not anticipated to be the best among the entries, which also include a 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid, 2023 Radical SR Diesel, 1949 Ford F1, and 2023 Radford Type 62-2.
The production of the Munich XM version will not be available for purchase until after the June competition, so it is necessary for the company to manufacture it.
