At CES 2024, BMW highlighted its focus on digital customer experiences, showcasing new infotainment features for its current models and future mobility projects. These included a remote-controlled BMW iX drive, augmented reality glasses for passengers, and an enhanced vehicle expert feature using generative AI. Additionally, BMW at CES 2024 introduced new gaming options for its ConnectedDrive Store in the BMW Operating System 9, including "Beach Buggy Racing 2" and games compatible with external gaming controllers. BMW and MINI customers can already enjoy the AirConsole app, turning their smartphones into game controllers. Moreover, BMW models with BMW Operating System 9 offer a 90-day trial of BMW Digital Premium, providing extended navigation functions and customization options.
BMW's entertainment offerings have expanded with the integration of the TiVo Operating System and DTS AutoStage Video Service in its vehicles. This service, available in various models, allows access to live channels and on-demand content across numerous genres. BMW at CES 2024 has also introduced a video app in several countries, offering a range of streaming services, including Pluto TV, Bloomberg, TED, and country-specific platforms like JOYN and RaiPlay. This service will continue to expand to other countries and BMW models.
BMW's advancements in augmented and mixed reality technologies were also showcased, demonstrating how AR glasses can enhance the driving experience. These glasses, like the "XREAL Air 2", wich were demonstraded by BMW at CES 2024, display stable AR/MR content in moving vehicles, a result of BMW's long-term research in this field. BMW has been a pioneer in digital technologies, such as the BMW Digital Key, and continues to explore partnerships for industry-standard XR devices. The company also previewed a development project with Amazon, enhancing the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with Amazon Alexa LLM capabilities, and announced a partnership with Valeo for remote-controlled valet parking solutions.
