Tesla’s Robotaxi Delayed
Tesla announced a significant milestone in its autonomous vehicle development, revealing plans to unveil Tesla's Robotaxi on October 10. This event marks a crucial step towards the company's vision of a fully autonomous ride-sharing service.
In the second quarter of 2024, Tesla produced approximately 411,000 vehicles and delivered around 444,000, including 386,576 Model 3 and Model Y units. Despite these figures, the company reported a slight drop in automotive revenue to $19.9 billion, highlighting the importance of Tesla's Robotaxi as a future revenue driver.
CEO Elon Musk, during the earnings call, expressed optimism about the timeline for Tesla's Robotaxi deployment, suggesting that the service could begin as early as next year. This follows Tesla's consistent focus on developing autonomous technology, which they claim will offer broader usability compared to competitors' geographically-limited services.
Musk also emphasized that Tesla's Robotaxi is designed to operate globally, aiming to provide a flexible and comprehensive solution in the autonomous vehicle market. This announcement has generated significant interest, as the industry closely watches Tesla's advancements in this area.
