The Future is Now: Unpacking the Polestar 3’s 2024 US Launch Plans
The Polestar 3, an electric mid-size SUV, is set to begin production in the US at the South Carolina Volvo Cars' plant in Q1 2024, with deliveries anticipated in Q2 2024, indicating a possible 2025 model year release.
Before its market debut, the vehicle underwent rigorous testing. It recently completed a two-week extreme hot weather trial in the UAE, specifically in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and surrounding deserts, where temperatures soared to 122°F. This test is among many that Polestar vehicles experience during their development phase.
After its appearance at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, prototypes were sent to the UAE in August for climate system tuning. Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar's CEO, expressed confidence in the SUV's progress, noting that the public can view its design in global retail locations.
Customers can preview the Polestar 3 in select Polestar Spaces across 27 markets. Test drive cars will be available in 2024. The vehicle can be pre-ordered online with a refundable $1,000 deposit. In the US, prices start at $85,300 for the Long Range Dual Motor and $91,300 for the variant with a Performance pack. These figures include a $1,400 destination fee but exclude potential incentives like the $7,500 federal tax credit.
This car has a capacity of 5 seats, which is generally adequate for its size. However, we're optimistic that Polestar will introduce a 7-seater variant to compete among the best 7-seater electric SUVs.
