The Latest Tesla Software Update: A Closer Look

Simplified Autopilot/FSD Beta Activation: One of the key features of this update is the streamlined process for activating Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta. Previously, drivers had to depress the gear stalk twice to activate these features. With the new update, Tesla has reduced this to a single stalk depression. This modification aims to simplify the activation and disengagement process, making it more intuitive and user-friendly. As Tesla moves towards making self-driving a fundamental aspect of the vehicle ownership experience, such enhancements in ease of use are crucial.

Enhanced Backseat Audio Experience: Another significant improvement brought by the 2023.38.8 update is the ability for backseat passengers to enjoy separate audio via Bluetooth headphones. This feature is particularly beneficial in vehicles equipped with a rear screen. It enables passengers in the backseat to connect wireless Bluetooth headphones, allowing them to listen to audio from the rear screen independently of the front audio. For example, while the driver listens to music or other audio through the front speakers, passengers in the back can watch a show on the rear screen using their headphones.

Tesla has detailed the process for utilizing this new feature: users can pair their headphones by navigating to App Launcher > Rear Display > Settings > Add New Headphones. Once paired, up to two headphones can be used simultaneously to listen to content from the Theater app on the rear screen.
