Kia EV3 LA Auto Show: a Compact Crossover with Futuristic Design and Sustainable Materials
On November 16th Kia introduced the Concept EV3 at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, marking a significant step in its journey towards electrification. The Concept EV3 is a compact crossover that encapsulates Kia’s pioneering electric platform technology and design philosophy.
The Concept EV3 is deeply rooted in Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, particularly the "Joy for Reason" pillar. This influence is evident in the vehicle's design, combining a robust body with a dynamic silhouette. Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center, emphasized the contrasting qualities and the logical yet emotional design of the EV3. The exterior features a unique silhouette with a forward-pushed windshield, a sloping roofline, and a disconnected C pillar creating a floating roof effect. The squared wheel arches, cut with asymmetrical angles, add to the vehicle's strong impression.
Inside, the Concept EV3 is a blend of practicality and transformative ambiance. The interior design fosters a sense of emotional wellbeing with soft mood lighting and a clean dashboard. The seating, designed with natural fiber structures, offers a lightweight and slim profile, enhanced by soothing natural tones. The CMF team has utilized 3D Knit technology for the seat covers, and the cabin features sliding tables supporting various modes like Focus, Social, Refreshing, and Storage. These elements are combined with bio-plastic materials, reflecting Kia’s commitment to sustainability.
In line with Kia's future vision, the Concept EV3 incorporates innovative materials, such as bioplastic from biomass sources and Bio Polyurethane as an alternative to animal-based leather. These materials were part of the 10 must-have items Kia plans to integrate into its new models, including the EV3 and EV4.
The Kia EV3 was unveiled for the first time earlier this autumn.
By the way, another Kia vehicle got into the top 10 best AWD electric vehicles of 2023 list.
