Get Ready for the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro SUV with 275-Mile Range

Today, Volkswagen of America, Inc. disclosed the EPA-calculated fuel economy statistics for the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV. The ID.4 Pro's EPA-estimated distance range has been increased by 15 miles from the 2021 model, now standing at 275 miles. The ID.4 Pro S RWD has received an EPA-estimated range of 262 miles, while the AWD Pro has been rated at an EPA-estimated 251 miles of range, and the AWD Pro S has been rated at an EPA-estimated 245 miles of range. The ID.4 Pro's EPA-estimated fuel economy for city, highway, and combined driving is 116, 98, and 107 MPGe, respectively. Similarly, the Pro S's EPA-estimated fuel economy for city, highway, and combined driving is 110, 93, and 102 MPGe, respectively.

The AWD ID.4 Pro has been estimated by EPA to have a fuel economy of 106 MPGe in city driving, 96 MPGe in highway driving, and 101 MPGe in combined city/highway driving. On the other hand, the AWD Pro S has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 100 MPGe in city driving, 90 MPGe in highway driving, and 95 MPGe in combined city/highway driving.

All ID.4 models come equipped with an 82kWh (gross) battery and a permanent-magnet synchronous motor in the rear, providing 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. The ID.4 AWD features an additional asynchronous electric motor on the front axle, which has a maximum output of 107 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque. The combined system provides a maximum output of 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque.

In its latest model year, the Volkswagen ID.4 electric car has improved its DC fast-charging speed from 125 kW to 135 kW. Additionally, customers purchasing the 2022 ID.4 will receive three years of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America DC fast chargers at no extra cost, and will be able to manage their charging plan through the Electrify America app. Electrify America currently has 800 EV charging stations and is planning to more than double its infrastructure by 2026 with 1,800 charging stations, including 10,000 individual chargers, in the United States and Canada. The ID.4 also offers a Plug and Charge feature to simplify the charging experience at Electrify America (available at a later date).

The 2022 VW ID.4 can be purchased at a starting price of $41,230 MSRP for the Pro model with rear-wheel-drive, before any potential Federal tax credits of up to $7,500. The AWD Pro model is priced higher at $44,910. The Pro S models come at a higher price of $45,730 for rear-wheel drive and $49,410 for all-wheel drive. It should be noted that all ID.4 models require a destination fee of $1,295.
