Mercedes USA Launches Acceleration Increase Subscription for EQE, EQS
Mercedes-Benz USA has announced that they will offer performance upgrades as subscription services for its 2023 Mercedes EQE and EQS sedans and SUVs. The upgrade, called "Acceleration Increase On-Demand," will be available as a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the vehicle or as a monthly and yearly option.
Customers in the United States and Canada with the Mercedes EQE 350 4Matic and Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic Sedan and SUV models can choose to have the upgrade as an Over-the-Air (OTA) update.
The upgrade increases the vehicle's output by 60 horsepower in the Mercedes EQE and 80 horsepower in the 2023 Mercedes EQS, improving acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour by as much as a full second. The output of the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4Matic models is boosted from 288 hp to 348 hp, shortening the 0-60 mph acceleration time by a full second to 5.2 seconds in the SUV and by 0.9 seconds to 5.1 seconds in the Sedan. The Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic models have gained an additional 80 hp in output, resulting in a total of 435 hp. This increase in power has led to a faster acceleration time of 4.9 seconds (an improvement of 0.9 seconds) for the SUV and 4.5 seconds (an improvement of 0.8 seconds) for the Sedan.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that their performance enhancements do not affect the electric range of their vehicles. The upgrade can be downloaded from the Mercedes me connect Store for eligible EQE and EQS Sedan and SUV models. Customers have the option to choose between a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the vehicle or monthly and yearly subscription options. The cost of the upgrade is $1,950 for EQE models and $2,950 for EQS models. Interestingly, the annual subscription prices are lower than the initial rate announced last year for all models.
Thanks to the integration of Over-the-Air (OTA), upgrading the Acceleration Increase On-Demand is now possible without having to visit a dealership. Along with this performance enhancement, the Mercedes me connect Store also provides access to several On-Demand additions, such as the Beginner Driver and Valet Service Modes, Remote Engine Start, Navigation and extended Navigation features, AMG Track Pace, and more. Mercedes-Benz assures that it will not provide conventional, hardwired features like heated seats as digital extras. In the coming months, the store will receive more features.
