Rivian Revives Historic Theater in Laguna Beach for Flagship Retail Space

The U.S. electric automaker Rivian is set to open its first flagship retail location, the Rivian South Coast Theater, in Laguna Beach on December 9. The historic theater, originally the New Lynn Theater from 1935, has undergone meticulous restoration to become a unique destination for showcasing Rivian's innovative vehicles, hosting community events, and featuring creative theater programming.

Located at 160 South Coast Highway, just 15 miles from Rivian's Irvine headquarters, the South Coast Theater is the company's largest retail space, spanning over 11,000 square feet. This new addition will be Rivian's 11th retail space and its third in California, joining Venice Beach and an upcoming location in Pasadena.

The theater's restoration effort was a labor of love, preserving its original exterior, interior features, and character. This dedication resulted in its designation as a historic site on the National Register of Historic Places in March 2023.

In collaboration with the Coast Film Foundation, known for its annual Coast Film & Music Festival, the Rivian South Coast Theater will continue to screen films, aligning with Rivian's mission to "Keep the World Adventurous Forever."

The theater's relaxed and family-friendly environment aims to redefine the traditional automotive retail experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Rivian's flagship products, the all-electric R1T pickup and R1S SUV, displayed prominently in the center of the theater.

The Gear Shop will offer an expanded selection of brand merchandise, goods by local artisans, and an exclusive collaboration with Orange County-based Almond Surfboards.

The on-site café will feature Equator Coffees, its first location in Orange County. This women-founded and owned company is dedicated to sustainably and ethically sourced coffee.

Opening weekend activities and film screenings are open to the public, including family art workshops hosted by the Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD), with some events requiring reservations.

This November Rivian introduced the R1T leasing program, including the Adventure Package. No wonder one of Rivian's vehicles got into the best selling electric cars, trucks, and SUVs in the US market list.
