Get Ready for the Big Reveal! Volvo EX30 Teases Interior and Exterior Design
Volvo has teased the 2023 Volvo EX30 earlier this month and is all set to unveil the vehicle in the upcoming week. This electric crossover will be a part of Volvo's electrified lineup and will be positioned at the smaller end. Automaker has shared a few more insights into the vehicle's exterior and interior design before its full reveal.
The inside of the car has a simple and sleek appearance with an uncluttered dashboard that revolves around a large 12.3-inch screen. In "calm" mode, the screen will only show vital information, and the infotainment system will have Google Assistant voice commands and Google Maps navigation. Additionally, the EX30 will be the first Volvo to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and 5G connectivity.
Moreover, the car will be equipped with a soundbar that is inspired by living room soundbars and extends across the dashboard's width. The soundbar can be paired with a better Harmon Kardon system, and the use of multiple speakers in a single housing reduces the amount of wiring and materials used. This soundbar also frees up space in the doors, allowing for more storage space. The window switches have been relocated from the doors to the central console.
The glovebox has been relocated beneath the center screen and the cupholders have the ability to retract, creating more room. Additionally, the back seat passengers are provided access to a sliding storage bin. Volvo has also included a tailgate guide to assist in determining which cargo sizes are appropriate for the trunk.
Volvo is promoting the use of sustainable materials in their upcoming EX30 model. They refer to the different interior designs as "rooms" and one of these themes will focus on denim, utilizing waste from the denim recycling process. Additionally, the car will feature materials like flax, wool blend with 70% recycled polyester, and recycled plastic from PET water bottles. The official launch of the 2023 Volvo EX30 is scheduled for June 7, with U.S. reservations opening up on the same day. The car is expected to hit the market next year.
