Acura ZDX Leads the Way: Online Sales for All Acura EVs!
For the sale of its upcoming electric models, Acura has announced a new strategy as it plans to conduct all sales through an online purchase process. The automaker has developed a unique online shopping platform in collaboration with its dealers and an automotive retail platform. Although customers can still visit physical dealerships to view the cars, all transactions will be handled online.
Acura sees its existing dealer network as a competitive advantage when entering the digital sales world. The automaker has been working alongside a group of its dealers to create the online shopping platform, which will be rolled out alongside the upcoming Acura Electric Car. This marks an important difference from other direct sale programs, launched by Tesla or BMW.
While the shift to online sales for Acura EVs will be official, customers will still be able to visit dealer showrooms to view vehicles. According to the automaker, whether the process starts in the customer's living room or at the dealership, the dealers will still be part of it. Pre-orders for the Acura Electric SUV will open in 2023, with deliveries expected in early 2024. The vehicle will use the same battery pack as the Cadillac Lyriq, thanks to a development deal between Honda and GM.
While every Acura EV from here on out will be sold in this way, the automaker has not yet decided whether its internal combustion products will follow suit. American Honda vice president of sales Mamadou Diallo stated that the online sales method will be rolling out with the ZDX when it arrives for the 2024 model year and that Acura dealers are fully onboard with the new strategy.
Furthermore, Acura, Honda's luxury division, is set to launch a series of high-performance electric vehicles under the Type-S brand, with the initial model being the 2024 Acura ZDX SUV.
