Revolutionizing the Road: The All-New BMW i5 is Here!
The upcoming eighth generation of BMW 5 Series Sedan will be unveiled in a matter of months. This new model is designed to offer a more dynamic and comfortable driving experience, while showcasing a modern take on the car's classic sporty look. It will also feature the latest BMW Operating System 8.5, which includes BMW Curved Display and innovative digital services. Additionally, the 2024 BMW i5 will make its debut as the first 5 Series model to feature a purely electric drive system.
The new BMW 5 Series Sedan can be provided in different versions due to its adaptable powertrain architecture. These versions include all-electric and plug-in hybrid models, as well as petrol and diesel models equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology, ensuring high efficiency.
During the BMW Group Annual Conference 2023, the Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Oliver Zipse, unveiled further information about the new BMW 5 Series model range. He announced that the 5 Series Sedan would also be offered as an all-electric BMW M Performance model, taking inspiration from the success of the all-electric BMW i4 M50 model, which was the top-selling BMW M model globally in 2022. Zipse praised the BMW i4 M50 for perfectly blending dynamic performance and electric mobility. Additionally, the new BMW 5 Series Sedan line-up will include a fully electric Performance model from BMW M GmbH.
During a recent announcement, Zipse disclosed that a new engine option will be available for the BMW 5 Series Touring, in addition to the current choices. This model is particularly popular in Europe, and the new engine option will be an all-electric variant set to debut in spring 2024. This will give the BMW Group a unique advantage in this market segment. The BMW Group is steadily expanding its all-electric offerings, with electric cars and two-wheelers available in most of the market segments served by the BMW, BMW Motorrad, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands. These premium vehicles offer emissions-free mobility across a range of sizes and classes. The new BMW 5 Series Sedan is set to launch worldwide in October 2023.
