2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Unveiled: Power Surge & Infotainment Revolution!
From a mere glance, one might think that the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 remains largely unchanged. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. The latest model sports substantial power enhancements and a complete revamp of its infotainment system.
While the battery configurations for the 2024 ID.4 echo its predecessors, significant upgrades lurk beneath the surface. The rear-wheel-drive version offers a choice between the 62-kWh or 82-kWh battery packs. Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive iteration exclusively features the 82-kWh option. Thanks to innovations borrowed from the soon-to-be-released ID.7, there's a surge in power. Notably, the rear-drive ID.4 witnesses an impressive leap from 201 horsepower to a staggering 282. On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive model has its power boosted from 295 to an approximate 330 horsepower. As VW finalizes the intricate aspects of the powertrain, specific details such as torque numbers and range estimates remain pending. Nevertheless, Volkswagen has hinted at a longer range for the 2024 model.
If you've experienced the previous model's infotainment system, prepare to be astounded. Drawing inspiration from the ID.7, the all-new software offers a gamut of enhancements. It boasts impeccable customizability, allowing users to tailor multiple pages and layouts to feature their preferred applications and details. The layout is anchored by fixed function bars at the top and bottom. The lower bar focuses on climate controls, with added provisions for specific shortcuts. The upper bar, on the other hand, can be personalized with shortcuts to your favorite apps and features. Early impressions reveal a swift, lag-free experience, marking a monumental improvement from the past. Moreover, a grander 12.9-inch display now graces the dashboard, complete with illuminated touch buttons - a true blessing for nocturnal drives.
However, there's a catch: this swanky infotainment is exclusive to the ID.4 models equipped with the 82-kWh battery. Regrettably, those opting for the more budget-friendly 62-kWh variant will have to contend with the former infotainment setup, inclusive of non-illuminated sliders. For potential buyers, it might be worth the extra bucks to ensure the superior 82-kWh model is parked in your driveway.
The rejuvenated 2024 VW ID.4s are set to grace the roads soon, with production scheduled for year's end at the VW plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. This ensures its continued eligibility for the full federal tax credits. As the launch draws near, automotive enthusiasts can look forward to more granular details on range, pricing, and much more in the upcoming months.
