2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS: Unveiling the Extended Power and Range Edition
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan is due for some exciting upgrades in the upcoming model year to enhance its power and range.
Mercedes-Benz has announced an update to the power electronics of their EQS models. This will lead to a significant boost in horsepower for both the EQS 450 4Matic and the EQS 580 4Matic. The former will see a rise of 27 horsepower, taking the total to 355 hp, while the latter will get a 20 hp increase, bringing the total to 536 hp. The Mercedes EQS 450 4Matic will now have a WLTP-rated range of 366-447 miles, an increase of 14 miles. The EQS 580 4Matic will have an extra 16 miles added to its range, providing a total range of 366-446 miles.
The luxury four-door sedan's all-wheel-drive models will come with a Disconnect Unit (DCU) that disconnects the front drive unit on light throttle input and periods of trailing throttle, resulting in increased efficiency.
Mercedes-Benz has updated the 2024 EQS sedan by replacing the air compressor setup with a heat pump, which will result in lower energy consumption and increased efficiency. This change will not affect the WLTP range figures, but it will improve real-world economy and range figures across the lineup. The EQS 53 AMG 4Matic+ will have a 22-kilowatt on-board charger as standard, an upgrade from the 11-kW unit in the 2023 model year vehicles.
It's uncertain if the changes mentioned here will affect cars in the US. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS starts at $104,400 in the US, with a 108.4 kWh battery and an estimated range of 350 miles.
